My favorite MLB DFS plays for today with statistical reasoning.

Today we have a small five game slate at 6:40 E.T. on both Draftkings and Fanduel. With so few games it is tough to find plays I truly love, especially at pitcher, but I've done my best at breaking down what I like. Weather looks perfect as well with summer temperatures across the country. In this article I will cover the best Pitchers, Batters, and Stacks for both Draftkings and Fanduel. Some of the players we be repeated across both platforms, so I recommend simply reading the platform you are going to be playing on.

Draftkings

Pitchers

Chris Sale - 10.5k (ATL @ ARI)

Sale has been electric this season earning himself an all star bid and putting his second in NL Cy Young odds. He has a 32.7% K rate and insane 2.56 SIERA. He pulls a tough matchup today against Arizona who can hit lefties very well with some scary hitters such as Ketel Marte and Lourdes Gurries Jr. Despite the tough matchup, pitching is rough of this small slate and Sale seems like a pretty sure thing.

Jon Gray - 7k (TEX @ LAA)

Gray has been just slightly better than league average this season with an xFIP- of 99 an SIERA of 4.11. He gets a good matchup today against the Angels who strike out at a 23.1% clip and have a below average offense. Gray has done well vs the Angles in the past allowing just a .220 average and only one home run in 52 plate appearances. At 7k he is a great value today.

Batters

Byron Buxton vs Chris Flexen (MIN vs CWS) - 4.6k

I like almost all of the Twins offense today but I picked Buxton here because of his career stats vs Chris Flexen. In 10 plate appearances, he has two home runs, three doubles, two singles, and a walk. Buxton has also been turning back the clock recently with an OPS of 1.475 over the last 14 days, and 1.094 over the last 30 days.

Wyatt Langford vs Davis Daniel (TEX @ LAA) - 3.9k

The Rangers offense has been bad this season, but Wyatt Langford has been a bright spot. Over the last 30 days Langford has a .340 average and .960 OPS, along with six stolen bases. Davis Daniel has been good in his short time in the MLB, but lets not forget his 5.33 ERA in triple a this season with a fairly large sample size. The Rangers are projected for a healthy 4.7 runs today and if that happens Langford is sure to be a part.

Stacks

Minnesota Twins vs Chris Flexen

Going back to last year Chris Flexen has the worst SIERA on the slate and is the worst in almost all of the major categories as well. He has a 4.94 SIERA and 123 xFIP along with a 2 and 7 record. The Twins offense has been great even without Royce Lewis in the lineup and they are projected for the most runs on the slate at 5.6.

Fanduel

Pitchers

Chris Sale - 11.5k (ATL @ ARI)

Sale has been electric this season earning himself an all star bid and putting his second in NL Cy Young odds. He has a 32.7% K rate and insane 2.56 SIERA. Jon Gray - 7.3k (TEX @ LAA)

Gray has been just slightly better than league average this season with an xFIP- of 99 an SIERA of 4.11. He gets a good matchup today against the Angels who strike out at a 23.1% clip and have a below average offense. Batters
